Registration procedures for food supplement
For several months now we have been researching the registration procedures for food supplements in the individual EU countries. It is unbelievable how difficult this is and how tough the feedback from the competent authorities is. Although everything is supposed to be well regulated in the EU, this does not seem to be the case.
To our regret, so far only 7 countries have answered our questions:
Germany, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Spain, United Kingdom, Cyprus.
Statement by the BVL:
“In general, we can tell you that the supplement ad is not mandatory in every Member State. In Germany, this is based on the transposition of Article 10 of Directive 2002/46 / EC. The decision to introduce a disclosure obligation was left to the respective Member States. The delimitation of dietary supplements and work equipment is also not uniformly regulated in the EU. Furthermore, there is still no uniform regulation with regard to the use of plant and plant parts. “

List of countries that give detailed information only in return for a fee:
- Greece, hourly fee € 125.00 plus 24% VAT, processing time 7-10 days
- Italy, hourly fee € 90.00 net, with an hourly basis of 5 hours = € 450
- Croatia, hourly fee € 60.00, with an hourly base of 4 hours = € 240
- Sweden, hourly fee SEK 2.900 + VAT = € 301.60 + VAT, billing every 15 minutes
- Hungary, service charge € 220 excl. VAT
